“John Carter” is the story of a Civil War Confederate army captain named John Carter, played by Taylor Kitsh, and his adventure on another world named Barsoom. The planet Barsoom is a dying world with many different types of strange creatures. Among them are a humanoid species of Red Martians, Green Martians and other strange beasts. If you throw in a war, a princess and the fact that John Carter has great strength and can jump very high because of the gravity differences between Earth and Brasoom then you have a fun scifi, action filled adventure. BTW the planet Barsoom is Mars.

Once I watched this film I saw its influences in films such as the Star Wars series. I also believe it influenced the comic book/ graphic novel genre. I loved the idea of the hero presumed dead but off on an alien world on some adventure. What a masterstroke!

“John Carter” is a beautiful, well done film with positive environmental themes. The hero is a classical one that is likeable and the modern touches to the characters only make them better. Some of the elements of this film are just so revolutionary if you consider the time the book was written in.

I recommend “John Carter” as a must watch. It´s great fun and a beautiful film.
