Emerging Worker Trends
The New Workforce

Without a doubt the workforce and job markets are changing at a pace most people could not have imagined a few decades ago. Compared to say 2015 we now have a phenomenon which is really more a common practice called remote working and coworkers we now call A.I.

From my online experience as of now, 2023, at least half of the content made by influencers at the very least uses A.I. technology in their podcasts, videos and what have you. The trick nowadays is to make A.I. generated content look and sound as real and as human made as possible. But the truth is that a lot of the scripts, images, videos and even topics chosen are done by A.I.. So the question today is how much or what percentage of content online is A.I. generated for any influencer or company? That number seems to rise by the month. So many of my favorite content creators, websites and my usual internet watering holes are now more and more automated. As a consumer it feels like I’m losing my favorite content creators to some kind of doppleganger like in the film “Invasion Of The Body Snatchers”. It really does.

How will this effect the job market, the workforce etc.? By effecting the job market and work force I mean most aspects of our lives. That is the entertainment we enjoy, the food we eat, the jobs we do and so on.

The first thing is that because of its usefulness and speed A.I., in spite of what all the people that disagree want, will become ubiquitous to the point of not even being noticed. All or nearly all jobs will use A.I. in one form or another. So in the example of a video content creator most of their operation can be automated or done without their sweat and effort. This will get to the point of being taken for granted even expected. The lasting effects of this will be that people will value less things made by other people. An ornate piece of jewelry from long ago that was hand crafted with historical significance might not attract the eyes of tourists as it once did. And this is a shame.

Another result of our growing reliance on A.I. is that Artists might also be expected to churn out works, using A.I. of course, at higher numbers rather than contemplate and create a piece of art with care and thought. So, quantity will be more important than quality and emotional investment in the process of creation.

Another result will be a case we see already in the academic publishing world where large amounts of books are churned out by large companies and the integrity of the content cannot be fully verified. That is the data is often doctored and there is widespread plagiarism. This will spread across all industries and what we once called plagiarism will soon be called “borrowing” because it will be done by A.I.

So to sum things up in the short term A.I. is our tool we will all adopt but will eventually replace us in many areas of our lives and in the workplace. Contrary to what most people think it won’t necessarily do a better job than people but it will be faster and cheaper so it will become the new darling.
