Noticeable Changes In Society

Our societies seem to be changing faster than ever. We have technologies today that are far more powerful than the technologies of 10 years ago. I’ve heard it said so many times that our smart phones are far more powerful computers than the cutting edge technologies of 10 years ago. And that is true.
But some technologies seem stagnant. For example, take flying technologies for the masses. The airplanes of today are the same as that of 10, 20, 60 years plus. Why have such technologies remained stagnant? We really could use airplane and transportation technologies upgrades. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to travel anywhere in the world within 1 hour? Yes one hour. Paris, one hour. Siam Reap, one hour. Yes, Singapore, one hour. Such transportation upgrades are very possible with the technologies of today but we have not yet invested in these changes. What a great boost to the economy to upgrade and even rebuild the infrastructure of transportation. And I’m not even talking about off Earth transportations either. Say, flights in orbit and beyond. I see this coming about when tourism catches up with, say, Earth orbit tourism where someone can go up in Earth’s orbit, put on a suit and go out to hang out above the Earth like a kind of hiking trip. That could be so much fun. It would probably be more fun than scuba diving, and more dangerous.
Imagine building casinos on the Moon. Imagine the Moon becomes a place where you can gamble, and buy the best knock-off luxury items anywhere and have the best adventures anywhere. A kind of seedy playground for adventure seekers if that’s what you’re looking for. Imagine it being an ideal place for artists and writers the way Paris, Thailand and parts of South America were. Or it could be a place to open a business that fills an empty niche like car parts, cafes or shipping. You could erect large domes with magnetic fields to repel radiation and dust while keeping in the filtered air. I don’t know about the problem of gravity but it would still be one hell of a vacation spot. The Moon would turn into a place where people only talked about it in hushed tones with friends in the street. Nobody would ever admit to going there but they all would have great stories of the place. And then there’s the job market. People would suddenly disappear from Earth and leave their lives on Earth behind to seek fortune and a better life beyond Earth’s atmosphere. I can imagine it now. Sign me up. Life here on Earth has become far too monitored and controlled. There is no privacy and anyone at any time can lose everything to slander. Humanity needs a new kind of Wild West where society seems to start over and crimes, frauds and injustices are not tolerated. You would probably have some kind of vigilante justice, some killer sheriffs, some snake oil salesmen/women and some perpetrators of Ponzi schemes but, hook or crook, justice would come. At least that’s what I imagine. But who knows?
In societies where you have no privacy and are monitored all the time a person is never truly free. Because the truth is that most people are not committing crimes and yet those people have no rights to their information and data. As a result I, I feel that, there is a lot more mental illness today and frustration. I see it in the NYC subways and on the streets. People treat each other differently today. They are meaner, less caring and all the TV propaganda might change the perception of the average blockhead but it will not change the truth to this fact.
That is why we need a change. We need a kind of vacation from this insanity of the controlled/ monitored society and a place like the Moon might be just that. It could be much, much more of course. Think of the various research centers, telescopes and mining bases we could put there. Just keep war out. It’s not welcome.
I’m just rambling.
