“Extinction” is the story of an engineer named Peter, played by Michael Pena, who have recurring nightmares that threaten his comfortable family life. He is in his dreams and they have a feel of clairvoyance about them. These nightmares become worse and worse and deal with fantastical subjects like alien invasions and war. His wife Alice, played by Lizzy Caplan, becomes more and more fed up with Peter and his boss David, played by Mike Colter, suggests he go to a Wellness Center to cure himself. He walks out of the clinic after a patient, played by Tim Riley,  tells him to  take his dreams seriously. The story takes an fantastic and interesting twist from there and the film develops into an great story.

This is a good film in spite of having a low budget and quite a few mistakes. The story takes an unexpected twist and deals with a very serious issue some might be facing in the future. It´s also more than just an alien invasion film and you get a clues along the way, like the fact that we don´t know the characters last names if they even have any. I felt like the creators needed more time to iron out problems and sift out mistakes but it´s a good watch nonetheless. A story like this one should not be  a movie but a mini series at the very least. Another thing I liked about it was that after a point I felt like I was watching a “Twilight Zone” or “Black Mirror” episode.

So check out this modest film. It´s sure to please scifi lovers.
