An Every Day:
How healthy Are Our Patterns In Life?
www.ink2quill.com

We all have our routines. Some of them we like, some not so much. Think of the grind to get up for work in the morning. Think of how there never seems to be enough time to wake get ready for work and leave out the front door. I mean, we’ve all done it a million times but why can we not get it right once and for all? Have you ever thought about it? It’s almost as if being in a rush at the start of your day was part of the work routine. Think about it. That all seems to be part of our every day. Even for those of us that love our jobs that fact does not seem to change. It’s one of those splinters we deal with in our everyday lives.

What about other routines like what to eat for lunch? What to bring for lunch? And even, in some cases who to spend our lunch with? Those can be parts of our day we don’t look forward to but they are always, or almost always, present as part of our day.

I remember back in High School in Europe we studied the myth of Sisyphus and how that Greek mythological character angered the gods and was cursed for it. What was he cursed with? Repetition of a difficult task. A grueling task that had to be repeated over and over to the end of time. The moral of that story could seem to be to not anger the gods I mean angering powerful forces is trouble no matter what they call themselves. Or maybe to stay away from repetitive grinds that wear you out?

Taking the NYC subway to work can be considered by some as an unhealthy thing. Others would disagree because of the time you save, especially when you’re busy. Would about the alternative of walking to stay healthier and maybe enjoy parts of the city. I know people who do that and they are as fit as a fiddle. No joke it works. That just might be a healthier routine.

So, maybe what I’m trying to say is that, like Sisyphus, we cannot get rid of many of our routines but we can replace some of them. Another well known and much practiced example is to bring lunch instead of eating out. Or, how about, stopping by to chat with people in departments you don’t usually chat with? Yeah. Chat with those people you don’t really speak with. This might create healthier patterns to follow in our lives.

I’m just rambling.
