“The Silence Of The Lambs” is an American, horror, thriller and mystery film. It was adapted by Ted Tally from a novel of the same name written by Thomas Harris. This was the second film to be made about the serial killer character Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The first film was called “Manhunter” and I can honestly say that it is very well done too. It was directed by Jonathan Demme and stars a very talented cast including Jodie Foster, Anthony Hopkins, Lawrence A. Bommey, Ted Levine, Kasi Lemmons, Lawrence T. Wrentz, Scott Glenn, Anthony Heald, Frankie Faison, Don Brokett, Frank Seals Jr., Maria Skorobogatov, Jeffrie Lane, Leib Lensky, George `Red´Schwartz, Jim Roche, Andre B. Blake, Obba Babatunde, Cynthia Ettinger, Charles Napier, Diane Baker and Brooke Smith and of course Darla the cute dog among others. It has won and been nominated for many Awards like winning 4 Academy Awards and being nominated for 2. It won 2 Golden Globe Awards and was nominated for 4 and it won 1 British Academy Film Award and was nominated for 7. It consistently turns up on the top 25 list of best Hollywood Movies and top 10 list of best police, horror and thriller films from Hollywood for a very good reason. This is an excellent film that will send a shiver up your spine.

Silence Of The Lambs Goodread quotes

“The Silence Of The Lambs” is the story of an FBI manhunt for a dangerous killer. If this story sounds simple, trite or predictable believe me it is not. The story follows an FBI rookie named Clarice Starling, played by Jodie Foster, chase down a very dangerous serial killer they named Buffalo Bill, played by Ted Levine. As the story progresses she meets with another serial killer in captivity named Dr. Hannibal Lecter, played by Anthony Hopkins, for clues on Buffalo Bill. The psychological cat and mouse game between Clarice and Dr. Lecter is fascinating and chilling at the same time. The story is really a stroll through the mind of a serial killer, namely Dr. Lecter although we learn alot about Buffalo Bill too. This story is really a journey through the dangerously insane mind and it´s frightening and Clarice navigates it masterfully.

I don´t usually gravitate toward films that use gore or sadism to razzle and dazzle the audience but in the case of “The Silence Of The Lambs” I have to say that the story is excellent so it´s OK. This is a classic tale of good versus evil without being trite or feeling contrived. It has a realistic feel to it because it was taken after real events and that´s probably what makes it so damn terrifying. The evil in this story are two serial killers and both are very good at what they do. They hunt and torture people for fun and that is horrific. This story has you wonder about many things like the kind of world we really live in and the most rotten parts of the human soul. After watching this film you will realize that no matter who you are or where you are, you are never completely safe or far enough away from the most evil people in our soceity and that is a truly, truly terrifying thought.

I highly recommend “Silence Of The Lambs” as a must watch and own. It will give you goosebumps and it is an excellent story.
