Nightcrawler
Released 2014

”Nightcrawler” is an American, thriller film with a story seen through the eyes of an off-putting, sinister main character. It was produced by Jennifer Fox, Jake Gyllenhaal, Tony Gilroy, David Lancaster and Michel Litvak. It was written and directed by Dan Gilroy. With a talented cast of which includes Rene Russo, Jake Gyllenhaal, Riz Ahmed, Ann Cusack, Kevin Rahm and Bill Paxton this is a both a strange and disturbing film. It has been nominated and won many awards including the American Film Institute, Austin Film Critics Association, Boston Society of Film Critics, Toronto Film Critics Association, New York Film Critics Online awards, to name just a few.

The main character is Lou Bloom, played by Jake Gyllenhaal, who is a driven, hard-working person to the outside world hiding a criminal-minded, sociopathic nature. He steals, lies and kills with no remorse. One disturbing thing about this film is the fact that we see someone do horrible things and outwit the law because he is such a good liar and manipulator. This film will have you realize that although violent people are a menace to society, liars can be just as dangerous if not more so. Furthermore, the criminal justice is just not able to handle them in too many cases.

“Nightcrawler” is a disturbing film that is very well made and is worth seeing and owning. This is a very good film.
