“Manhattan Night” is an American, crime, drama, thriller film produced by Adrien Brody, Brian DeCubellis and Steven Klinsky. It was directed and written by Brian DeCubellis and also written by Colin Harrison. It stars a cast of amazing actors like Adrien Brody, Yvonne Strahovski, Jennifer Beals, Campbell Scott, Linda Lavin, Steven Berkoff, Kevin Breznahan, Amelie McKendry, Thomas Bair, Theis Weckesser, Freia M. Titland, Chinasa Ogbuagu, Will Beinbrink, Frank Deal and Maria-Christina Oliveras. The film is based on the Colin Harrison novel published in 1996 called Manhattan Nocturne. This is a little known gem that is Worth seeing.

“Manhattan Night” is the crime drama of Porter Wren, played by Adrien Brody. He´s a columnist/ crime reporter and private investigator for a New York daily newspaper and private clients. At an after work party Porter meets a mysterious women named Caroline Crowley, played by Yvonne Strahovski. She seduces Porter and gets him to investigate the death of her famous director husband Simon Crowley, played by Campbell Scott. The story takes off in all different directions from there with the introduction of a media tycoon named Mr. Hobbs, played by Steven Berkoff. He wants to hire Porter too. These story lines intersect as the influential characters, Caroline and Mr. Hobbs, are both looking for recordings but for different reasons. Mr Hobbs is a bully while Caroline is a sociopathic manipulator and Porter finds himself and his family in the middle, with his marriage also on the line. That is the bind Porter must extricate himself from.

This has elements of the classic film noir detective genre were nothing and nobody are what they seem. Porter must find the strand of truth in a web of lies.

I really enjoyed this film in spite of some plot holes. Adrien Brody does these roles so well and Yvonne Strahovski is surprisingly brilliant too.
