Containment” is the well crafted story of an epidemic that strikes somewhere in England. A group of people are trapped without water, food or power during an epidemic. They are given no explanation what is going on and must investigate their predicament for themselves.

The story begins when the characters realize their doors have been glued shut and the windows in their apartments are locked. Society has tried to isolate people in their apartments to keep an epidemic from spreading. A few residents break through the walls of some apartments and band together to find out what is going on. It turns out there is an epidemic.

To a degree, this story reminds me of ”The Diary of a Young Girl” by Ann Frank. You have some people stuck in an apartment with an evil outside that threatens their lives. In this case it´s a medical pestilence and not political fascism. You also have the clash of different personalities in a group who are confined to a small space with limited resources. The comparisons end there though because you don´t have any mob trying to break out or a military that rescues the children either in the case of Ann Frank´s Dairy. Reality is a much starker ending.

I enjoyed this movie because it´s a different and refreshing take on a popular theme. It´s the story of a mass epidemic in the suburbs and the government´s attempts at controlling it without a total retreat or mass murder. People are told to stay put while the virus winds down.

I enjoyed ”Containment” because of it´s realism and I highly recommend it as a must see and own.
