“Black Panther” is an American, action, sci-fi movie inspired from the American comic books of the same name. It was directed by Ryan Coogler who also wrote it along with Joe Robert Cole. It´s also important to mention that the comic creators are none other than Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. It stars an amazing cast of Hollywood´s greatest talents like Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Lupita Nyong´o, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, Isaach De Bankole, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Sterling K.Brown, Andy Serkis, Florence Kasumba, John Kani, David S. Lee, Nabiyah Be, Connie Chiume, Dorothy Steel, Danny Sapani, Sydelle Noel, Marija Juliette Abney, Zola Williams, with a cameo appearance by Stan Lee and so many others. “Black Panther” achieved huge success at the box office from its first days with critics praise and fans going to see it more than once.

The story of the Black Panther comes from an American comic book series after the character first appeared in 1962. In the movie T´Challa must return home to his hidden, yet highly technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to be its new king after his father is assassinated. As in the case with so many monarchies his ight to rule is challenged and his kingdom is headed to war and ruin. The story goes into the history of the kingdom introducing us to an impressive group of warriors, scientists and shaman.

“Black Panther” really has something for all ages and even, in a way, crosses movie genres. I consider it a sci-fi as well as an action film because of the way they used technology. I never thought it would be as good as it was. The script was good, costumes, special effects and acting as well, and above all I loved the positive message at the end of the story. The world building in this film is also very nice with a beautiful and technologically advanced nation of Wakanda and its factions. I liked the character of M´Baku, played by Winston Duke, who exercizes his right to contest the crown but overall is not a lecherous person and of course the acting and presence of Chadwick Boseman was just perfect.

I´m glad to see a February movie do so well at the box office since traditionally February movies are supposed to flop and the fact that it was a non traditional, non Euro-centric story made it an even better surprise. Let´s hope for more shake ups in Hollywood that give us these gems.
